Startup impact
Review startup entries with sources and reversible changes.
Startup entries are easy to accumulate and hard to reason about. RamBeacon lists the entries Windows exposes, shows where each one comes from, and provides conservative impact evidence instead of inventing a boot-time score.
Changes are reversible. Enabling or disabling an entry uses Windows StartupApproved state; RamBeacon does not delete Run-key entries, modify services, or change scheduled tasks.
What is inspected
RamBeacon reads current-user and local-machine Run keys and the per-user and common Startup folders. Each row identifies its source, command, enabled state and available metadata.
Impact is described conservatively. Where Windows does not provide a reliable measurement, the interface says so instead of fabricating a number.
- HKCU and HKLM Run keys.
- Per-user and common Startup folders.
- Source, command, enabled state and evidence.
- Reversible enable/disable through StartupApproved.
What is deliberately excluded
Services, scheduled tasks and entry deletion are outside this feature. Those surfaces need different review and rollback guarantees. RamBeacon keeps the startup tool narrow so that every action has a clear inverse.
Boot-impact tracing is not implemented yet. Current impact labels are estimates or unknown based only on available evidence, and the UI says which.
Changing a startup entry can affect sign-in behavior. Review the command and source before toggling it.
