Memory leak detection
Investigate memory growth without calling everything a leak.
A process using more memory than yesterday is not automatically leaking. Caches grow, runtimes retain heap pages, and browsers share memory across processes. RamBeacon separates observation from conclusion so that you can investigate a trend with evidence instead of a scary label.
The desktop app keeps bounded per-process history and evaluates sustained growth and abrupt spikes. Each finding includes the observation window, measured change, confidence, and the caveats that apply to runtimes such as Node.js and Chromium.
Observation windows matched to real debugging
Use a 5-minute window while reproducing a bug, or a 60-minute window while leaving a service running. RamBeacon compares samples inside the selected window and shows the history chart alongside the evidence.
History is bounded so a long-running investigation does not turn into an unbounded local database. Sampling cadence and data retention are configurable in Settings.
- 5, 15, 30 and 60-minute observation windows.
- Sustained-growth and spike analysis with confidence.
- Per-process history chart and evidence detail.
- JSON diagnostic export for sharing with your team.
Signals, not verdicts
V8 and other managed runtimes may retain heap capacity after garbage collection. RamBeacon surfaces that caveat in the interface instead of pretending that a rising working set proves a leak.
A finding is a reason to investigate. It does not terminate a process, change a preset, or authorize any cleanup action.
No automatic cleanup. Process changes always require an approval preview.
A practical investigation loop
Reproduce the behavior, choose a window, and compare the process history with the rest of the system. If the growth is suspicious, export the diagnostic JSON and review it with the developer who owns the service.
RamBeacon is not a profiler. It helps you find the process and the time window worth profiling — it does not replace heap snapshots, allocation timelines, or runtime-specific tooling.
